VoP Successfully Goes Live – A Smooth Launch and Satisfied Customers
The launch of VoP went smoothly: Since going live, it has been working
As a Routing and Verification Mechanism (RVM) officially certified by the European Payments Council (EPC), our VoP solution meets all regulatory requirements of the EU regulation governing IBAN name matching in SEPA payments.
Our VoP module offers high performance, strong security standards, and can be easily integrated into your existing infrastructure. As a Software-as-a-Service solution, it is ready for immediate use.
For banks and financial institutions in the SEPA area, the EU regulation on Verification of Payee (VoP) poses a particular challenge: For credit transfers and real-time credit transfers, an IBAN-name match must be performed—also in real time—before the customer confirms the transaction. With this measure, the EU aims to further strengthen the security of SEPA payments by minimizing the occurrence of erroneous transfers.
With its VoP module, CPB offers an EPC-certified Verification of Payee solution that enables financial institutions to integrate VoP efficiently and scalably into existing payment processes. CPB acts as a routing and verification mechanism (RVM) for connected banks and payment service providers: Incoming VoP requests are answered, requests from the institutions’ systems are routed to the respective recipient banks, and the responses are reliably returned.
By the way: We have a solution for non-banks as well. Get in touch with us!
True performance: Designed for high-load scenarios with over 1,000 requests per second
Zero-downtime operation: Uninterrupted maintenance and master data updates thanks to an active/standby architecture (e.g., via HA proxy)
Intelligent matching engine: A modular pipeline and heuristics that go beyond basic EPC guidelines
Automated operations: From QWAC Trust Store management to quarterly EPC reporting, everything runs automatically in the background
BIC lookup included: IBAN-only is possible – automatic BIC resolution (e.g., via Bundesbank INTBA)
eIDAS Security: Integrated QWAC Trust Store Builder for certificate validation based on current trust lists
Transparency & Traceability: Complete logging of all VoP requests and results (audit- and reporting-ready)
The requesting PSP sends a VoP request (name + IBAN) to the CPB VoP module
RVM uses routing and subscriber data from the EPC Directory (EDS) to determine the destination PSP
Responding PSP performs the name-IBAN match according to EPC rules and returns the VoP response
The result is returned unchanged to the requesting PSP
Java 21 LTS, embedded Tomcat, virtual threads for highly concurrent processing.

Yes. VoP applies to SEPA payments within the EU—regardless of whether the payments are domestic or cross-border.
Yes. CPB’s VoP module supports the processing of batch requests, such as when multiple payments are submitted in a single file. Each individual VoP request is checked separately, and the results are then returned in a structured, consolidated response.
Yes. Continuous 24/7 operation is mandated by the European Payments Council (EPC) and is particularly relevant in the context of real-time transfers. CPB’s VoP module is designed for high-availability continuous operation and meets these requirements.
Payment institutions must join the European Payments Council (EPC)’s VoP scheme. A QWAC certificate is required for technical processing; participants in the VoP scheme use this certificate to authenticate each other.
No, CPB’s VoP module is a completely standalone module and can be easily integrated into any payment infrastructure. Of course, it is seamlessly integrated into EFDIS.CIFRA.
CPB is listed as a Routing and Verification Mechanism (RVM) with the European Payments Council (EPB) and handles all updates and periodic recertifications.

Take advantage of our professional infrastructure with the highest security standards - we enable you to set up an infrastructure for cloud-based technology and are happy to provide you with resources such as virtual machines, network connections, storage space and computing power from the CPB Cloud.

We take over the operation of business-relevant applications and make them available for use in the CPB data centre. We also ensure automatic updates of the software - you don't have to worry about obtaining new releases or patches.

Their core competence lies in consulting, sales or production - ours in the efficient handling of the processes required behind them. As already successfully used by many customers: We provide you with the necessary IT resources and also take over complete back-office processes.
